Right in the heart of Old Town Toronto, a new development on Adelaide is under construction: Ivory On Adelaide by Plaza will add new life to this historic neighborhood. Along with its future neighbour next door, Greenpark and Fieldgate's Axiom Condos, the two developments will radically pedestrianize this speedy stretch of seldomy-walked roadway and expand Toronto's stock of residences to the east of the core.

Ivory has been bustling over the past few months, as construction workers have been building the parking garage in the excavated site in advance of the 22-storey condo's rise above street level. Thanks to UrbanToronto member RiverCity1, we have photos to update you on the progress of Ivory.

With its just east-of-centre location, Ivory will offer stunning views of Toronto's skyline to the west, and Lake Ontario to the south from the upper floors. 333 of the buildings 358 suites have sold with mostly two-bedroom suites remaining. Interior design is by Bryon Patton and Associates, and each suite will include granite or marble countertops, porcelain floor tiles, and six Whirlpool appliances.

The building is designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects. Its podium is marked by prominent vertical precast stripes against the podium walls, all-white and contrasting with shiny gray-tinted glazing with gun-metal gray mullions. Three retail spots line Adelaide, while a landscaped courtyard retreats from the street and leads to the residential entrance. The courtyard features reflecting pools and lush greenery.
