Hello Urban Torontonauts.

My name is Mustapha.

There has been a Toronto "Then and Now" historical photo thread running in the City Photos & Videos section of the Urban Toronto Forum for almost three years now. Forum administrator Ed007Toronto has kindly allowed me to post a daily update on this page that links you there. Most of the Then photos are from the Toronto Online Archives.

Daily Miscellaneous Then and Now for Thursday May 12, 2011:

Then. NW corner of Yonge and Dundas. March 12, 1950.

This intersection - if not exactly "historic" in terms of events or architecture - is one of Toronto's old commercial and transportation hubs.  The area now encompasses a public square on the SE corner, in addition to the unchanged "menu" that has been Yonge Street down through the years; namely, fast food to middling restaurants, book, camera, and clothing stores.

I wonder how many of us have walked by this former ScotiaBank branch without a thought. In fact it is the last original building on these four corners from the last century.

Now.  February 2011.
