It's core is fast catching up to it's recent growth, but you are correct in saying that it's core is small for a city of it's size. check back in 10 years and you might be biting your tongue though. not saying it will be a super nice downtown, but it will be more comparable to a city of it's size.

Completely agreed, in the coming days final approval is to be given to harmony village and soon you will see downtown cluster and have a more recognizable skyline. Im sure five 22-31 story buildings in a city of all 15 story buildings will stick out like a sore thumb but will be nice to see.

Actually the downtown has come a long way and it is a beautiful waterfront. Did Harmony Village get the height increase approved. 30 storeys will seem tall in Barrie.

Yes seems to be the usual anti-height rhetoric..not enough parking etc etc. Barrie needs more intensification..not less. It is funny that the residents of the high rise condos next door seem to be generating most of the negative comments, when they themselves are living in buildings that other residents were against when they were proposed.

Im sick of the hypocritical people in this city. But i do understand where they come from, why do one of the buildings need to be 31 stories and why cant they just build 4 buildings not 5.
But i personally think they knew the city would do this so they went big knowing and will now scale back the project to the original plan.

New renderings are out but little indication as to the design of the towers. I wonder if any of the vision of the original plans will remain.
