Roads: Scarlett Road / CP Rail Bridge EA

If Gooch will get a seperate part of the light it will slow traffic down on Dundas significantly. There are lights at Howland, Humber Hill, Gooch/Scarlett and Loblaws. 4 in 650 m.

The next one west is about 650m away (Prince Edward). And 400m east (Jane), then another 400+m to the next one on the east.

Howland is to Lambton arena is on a timer and does not disrupt traffic. But can they get rid of Loblaws and Humber Hill if Gooch is a full light? Would make the flow of traffic (and bus routes) much more efficient.

Gooch and Humber Hill serve the same neighbourhood. Most left hand turn's out of the neighbourhood currently uses Humber Hill (vs Gooch) because of the light and I would expect the traffic to follow where the light is. Humber Hill has a sharp turn and is not that safe.

Loblaws currently has an enter-only from Gooch. If they expanded it to both ways (and only allow right hand turns in/out of the parking lot to Dundas, they could get rid of the second light.

Anyone have the EA or a link to it? I seem to remember there being a provision in the design to run streetcars through from St Clair to Dundas, but not sure. Just curious mostly...

They plan to include that in the design, but really, who are we kidding? What are the chances the St. Clair ROW will ever get extended?

The chances that the St. Clair ROW gets extended westward are extremely slim, mainly because the width of the ROW on St. Clair Ave. W. is just not wide enough to handle it.

The chances of the St. Clair route getting extended westward, however, are quite good. The TTC has wanted to extend the line west to Jane for a long time.

It wouldn't pass through the Scarlett Rd. underpass however, at least not in any versions that the TTC has envisioned.

If someone other than Palacio was councillor, maybe SCW would have been widened as a condition of the newish commercial developments west of Keele. Hopefully he is gone in three months.

Oops! I thought 17 went further west. Bit depressing though, since the chances of Nunziata being unseated are a good bit lower than Palacio who has Bravo taking another run at him.

Two nights ago there was a shutdown of the bridge underpass. The walkways on the outside of the bridge had broken. It seemed one of the underside metal supports snapped from I gathered from what the City of Toronto guy on site told me. seen in this Streetview shot below.

So uh, what's the hold-up on this thing now that Ford is long gone? There's no more political obstacle, and the EA was completed years ago. Oh wait, that means it probably has to be done all over again. Toronto transit planning 101!

So just turning at Jane? What other options might be considered?

Rebuilding the bridge, or extending the LRT?
Rebuilding the bridge only as well a new Dundas Intersection.

The EA for extending 512 was suppose to start in 2008, but was defer until 1-2 years of full operation of the new ROW. Ford came in and has die since then.

Don't think the city has all the land on the south side from Jane to Gunns Rd for a full ROW.

A good time to build an GO station at Jane St with no parking or drop off area.

The current hydro lines above St. Clair used to be the right-of-way for the Toronto Suburban Railway. A radial or interurban that ran to Guelph.

Today, there is a bridge used by bicycles over the Humber River, just north of Dundas.

This bridge used by the radial line was used to go over Weston Road. It was removed and replaced by Gunns Road.
