As the Mississauga City Centre area continues to densify with new developments, the Exchange District Condos by Camrost-Felcorp are gaining in height right across the road from Square One. Designed by Arcadis, this quartet of towers will range from 30 to 72 storeys. Situated steps from all the retail and social amenities found in the area, and just a few minutes walk from the future Burnhamthorpe station on the Hurontario LRT, this site is one of many in the area that will gradually create a more walkable, complete downtown for Mississauga.

UrbanToronto is catching up with the progress on the project for the first time since our last update in July. Six months later, EXS, a 30-storey tower has topped off, EX1 (topped in pink above) is rising, EX2 (topped in yellow above) is on its podium levels, while work on EX3 (blueish-white top) is now making headway below grade.

Back in September, this twilight view looking west to the Exchange District Condos development focuses on EX1 (left) and EXS (right), while the EX2 crane stands closest to the camera. The EX1 tower, on the left, had risen to about 23 storeys, on its way to 60, with work progressing on its fourth stacked box volume. Its third volume cantilevers as it juts out along the southeastern elevation. Meanwhile in behind to the right, the black and white cladding has begun to be installed on EXS, roughly 10 storeys above its podium levels.

Coming up close, we get a glimpse into the excavation pit for the future EX3 tower, at 72 storeys the tallest of the group, pictured with the blueish-white top in the rendering above. Below, shoring walls are covered in blue and orange tarp, while the concrete walls of the neighbouring parking garages make up another two sides. At the base of the pit, two yellow excavators are engaged in material removal as hey finish off the digging. In the front through the fence we see wooden formwork in place to create the base of the building's elevator shafts.

In December, we catch a southwestward view of the rising EX2 tower with three storeys out of 42 being formed. The work here is supported by yellow shoring poles as concrete continues to cure, while rebar cages protrude into the sky above, showing where fourth floor walls will soon be formed. Behind it, EX1's black cladding and glazing for its third volume stands out.

Captured this month from a recent eastward perspective, the EXS tower has topped off at 30 storeys. Its elevations are fully clad with its signature design featuring black glazed windows and solid white cladding, other than where the construction hoist is in use on the southwest wall. To the right, work on EX1's sixth volume is now underway while the first three volumes are mostly clad. Sections of insulation and weatherproofing layers that precede the final exterior finishes can also be seen.

Finally, a distant panoramic shot looking northwest offers a wider view of central Mississauga at dusk, with the Exchange District Condos rising to the right of centre. The construction crane for EX1 stands above it, while other cranes in the background include those for Square One District Phase One and towers at Amacon's Parkside Village.

Upon completion, the Exchange District Condos will join the skyline with their impressive heights ranging from 96m to 232m high. It will also deliver more than two million square feet of space, including retail, office, a hotel, park, and public realm along with hundreds of new housing units.

UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below. If you'd like, you can join in on the conversation in the associated Project Forum thread or leave a comment in the space provided on this page.
