The transformation of Mississauga's skyline and downtown core continues with Exchange District Condos, from developer Camrost-Felcorp, visibly pushing towards a new phase of construction. Designed by Arcadis, the multi-tower development is well on its way towards claiming the record for tallest building in Mississauga, currently held by M City's 201 metre M1 Tower.

UrbanToronto reported on the first stirrings on the site back in May of 2020, when demolition crews were getting to work on the removal of windows and interiors of the nine-storey office building that formerly occupied the site, addressed 151 City Centre Drive. Fast forward three years, and the forming of the two towers is well underway, with the structures now beginning to peek out over the skyline.

Composed of a mix of towers standing 30, 42, 60, and 72 storeys, Exchange District Condos is set to have two towers surpass the 200m mark. Construction of the 60 and 72-storey towers has visibly started to shape the city's skyline, and the installation of balcony glass and cladding for the podium has only just begun. Work is actively continuing on these towers, with the third stacked box volume for EX1 being poured.

Along with the towers' deep black glazed windows and solid white cladding, design choices for the exterior expression of the development aim to deliver a series of visually striking additions to Mississauga's dynamic built form.

Meanwhile, as forming work continues, the southeast corner of the site is gearing up for grade level formwork in mid-July 2023 and the excavation for the next tower is set to wrap up. With the towers planned to be brought to life in different phases, the site has seen the completion of one or two underground levels for the southeast corner tower.

Looking at the evolving site from street level, the tower to the west is scaling upwards and on its way to being Mississauga’s tallest building. The scaffolding on the north side has been removed, while the cantilever created by the second stacked box volume of its sibling tower to the east is now visible.

The Exchange District Condos project is set to introduce two million square feet of various commercial spaces, a boutique hotel, as well as a new park and public realm. As the development moves closer to their completion targets, its impact on Mississauga, with the creation of the new Exchange District, becomes increasingly apparent.

UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below. If you'd like, you can join in on the conversation in the associated Project Forum thread or leave a comment in the space provided on this page.
