When you build tall in Toronto, and your building butts up against a property line, windowless walls are the way to go; your neighbourhood might one day build up against that lot line too, so designing suites to get their natural light from protected sides is how it's done. What results is a blank wall along the shared property line. In the case of 357 King Street West, BDP Quadrangle took care of the blankness by introducing a pixellated pattern of panels, the shades of gray gradually fading towards the tower's top, where it disappears into a cloudy, January sky in this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor Red Mars.
