Activity to clear the site for Slate Asset Management's One Delisle began over the last couple of weeks. The residential condominium near Yonge and St Clair in Toronto's Deer Park area is the first project in Canada to be designed by internationally renowned Studio Gang Architects of Chicago. In the final week of February, hoarding rose around the perimeter of the site, where the sales centre had sat quietly on the corner of Yonge Street and Delisle Avenue for months.

Following the hoarding, a scaffold was set up on the Yonge-facing side of the site in the beginning of March.

Last week, the promotional signage that sat above the sales centre was removed – suggesting that something would be happening soon.

An overhead shot from the end of last week shows the site beginning to be cleared, ahead of the demolition of the buildings currently on the site. There are four buildings which will need to come down to make way for the new tower, although the main façade of 1498 Yonge Street will be restored and incorporated into the base of the new development. Currently, the latter half of the sales centre has been taken down.

The redevelopment will introduce approximately 12,000ft² of new multi-level retail to that same corner, while expanding Delisle Park to the immediate west of the building by approximately 50%. When complete, One Delisle will stand 47 storeys tall, with 881 residential units, eight of which will be penthouse residences, set on floors 45 to 47, each spanning either one-third or one-half of the 16-sided building. As the building rises, it morphs from a square base to a rounded top.
