Following the launch of Verge Phase 1, RioCan Living has announced the pending release of its second tower, Verge Phase 2. Designed by Turner Fleischer Architects, the mixed-use residential condo community located in the Toronto borough of Etobicoke at the southwest corner of Islington Avenue and The Queensway will bring 544 new residences to the site, split between the two buildings. The second phase is a 17-storey tower situated east of the first phase, at the corner of the property, and will become home to 341 units ranging from 443 to 1,108ft² in area.

A main feature of the building will be its commitment to offering complementary outdoor spaces for its residents. “With Phase 2, we’re continuing to spotlight wellness and access to the outdoors while taking advantage of the building height with imaginative rooftop spaces,” said Kalliopi Karkas, Assistant Vice President, RioCan Living.

DesignAgency was tasked with designing Verge's amenities and interior spaces. Warm tones and a modern design are used throughout the amenities and suites. The larger base of the East Tower will allow for the building to have more social and co-working spaces, including outdoor options such as sun beds, lounge seating, fireplaces, and barbecues on the 9th floor terrace alongside fully connected outdoor workstations. The terrace will also feature views of Lake Ontario.

"Rooftop terraces have traditionally been spaces for socializing and relaxing, but residents may now also choose to take advantage of the outdoors during their workday," said Anwar Mekhayech, Founding Partner, DesignAgency. "We’ve adjusted by providing fully-wired outdoor workstations that support social and vocational functions. In this way, amenity design is as much about providing flexibility as it is providing inspirational spaces for residents.”

A putting green and green roof will both be located on the 11th floor, while the ground floor will feature a collection of lounge seating, a fireplace, and indoor co-working spaces including meeting rooms, personal booths, and communal tables.

Phase 2 will also include two interactive fitness studios that allow for remote fitness training, in addition to a traditional fitness centre. Other amenities will include a party room and a games room, a kids space with reading, homework, and play areas, and a golf simulation studio.
