Construction at Menkes Developments' 4.6 million ft² Sugar Wharf complex on Toronto's waterfront continues to progress, with the near-completion of the B+H Architects-designed office tower at 100 Queens Quay East while the Sugar Wharf Condos Phase 1—64 and 70-storey architects—Alliance-designed towers—rise ever higher over their retail base right next door.
Upon our last update on the site, the office tower had interior finishing and landscaping along Queens Quay East on its to-do list, with the majority of all other construction having been completed. As for the condo towers, they were well on their way, reaching the 20- and 29-storey marks. Cladding work was starting up as well, with the first panels of tower cladding having been applied, matching the window wall finishes that were installed below.
Now, the tower exteriors are becoming marked by the installation of balcony guards on the lower levels. Upon full installation, the guards will act as the main exterior expression of the building.
We can see what the future of phase one holds in a new final rendering:
The Sugar Wharf complex will continue to grow in the future with phase two–another three towers currently being planned to the west of the current first phase. Phase two will incorporate sections of the heritage LCBO building walls that currently exist on the site.
