Minto Communities GTA is set to make its mark on Oakville's Trafalgar Road and Dundas Street East area with their multi-phased, master-planned Oakvillage community. With three phases under its belt, the community's fourth phase was revealed in March of this year, a pair of BDP Quadrangle-designed condominium towers known as North Oak. North Oak's 20-storey, 207-unit first building—Phase 4A—was positively received and is now being followed by a second tower.
North Oak's Phase 4B second tower will rise 15 storeys tall, mirroring the design of the 4A tower with juxtaposed horizontal and vertical accents, all set back generously from the street to extend an emerging public realm in the area. A slightly shorter fraternal twin to the previous phase, the 4B tower will bring another 167 units to the Oakvillage community, offered in one and two-bedroom layouts with prices starting in the mid-$500,000s. Designed by Figure3, the suites will feature light tones and natural materials with splashes of colour. All suites will boasts either balconies or terraces.
The project joins an emerging trend among Greater Toronto Area condominium developments, attracting green-minded purchasers with a renewable energy system: North Oak's second tower will mark the first use by Minto of a multi-residential geo-exchange energy system, capable of reducing the building's carbon emissions by as much as 70%. "We’re thrilled to launch North Oak’s second tower, 4B, after the tremendous success of our launch of tower 4A earlier this year. North Oak is our first project to offer community energy through a geo-exchange system and the response from purchasers so far has been positive,” reads a statement issued by Roya Khaleeli, Director of Sustainability and Innovation at Minto Communities GTA.
This carbon- and cost-saving feature is being offered alongside wellness-enhancing design, extending through the tower's Figure3-designed common areas and amenities “Not only will residents benefit from this leading-edge technology, we know they’ll also benefit greatly from the wellness-inspired approach that’s seen through every touchpoint—from the walking paths and pedestrian prioritization to the beautiful gardens with native plantings and the bright interiors with natural materials and biophilic design incorporated throughout,” stated Khaleeli.
Some of the spaces that will be on display include North Oak’s 'Neighbourhood Nest', a double-height atrium connecting the two towers at the base and acting as a communal space while doubling as a hub of backup systems for emergency use. A grand spiral staircase will be a focal point in the tower's lobby, which will boast biophilic design features including a garden with native plantings. Other spaces include an amenity area shared between the two towers with a pair of party rooms, an outdoor terrace with pergola, barbecues and seating, a fitness centre equipped with a cardio studio, a yoga and pilates space, sauna, free weights, and exercise machines, a pet wash, bike repair and wash, and a co-working space lounge.
