The last blocks of brick walkup apartments fronting Dundas Street East in Toronto's Regent Park community were demolished in 2016, freeing up space for new market condominium buildings from The Daniels Corporation as part of the neighbourhood-wide revitalization's third phase. Bricks are once again adding warmth to this stretch as the new Artworks Tower and Artsy Boutique Condos complex rises from the northwest corner of Dundas Street East and River Street.

Under construction since the end of 2018, the BDP Quadrangle and Kirkor Architects-designed development's pair of buildings are making steady progress towards heights of 33 and 11 storeys, rising from a shared three-storey podium. We last checked in on the project's progress at the start of June, when the buildings reached heights of 12 and 6 storeys. While forming has only made a bit of progress in the time since—crews forming the 15th and 7th levels as of late June—much progress has been made towards the installation of exterior finishes.

The first few brick-embedded precast cladding panels were spotted at the start of June along the Dundas East frontage at the base of the 33 storey tower, a process which has made swift progress in the weeks that followed. These panels now cover the majority of the Dundas frontage, and will eventually continue up the heights of both the tower and mid-rise building.

The panels for the lower levels are being installed with the assistance of a mobile hydraulic crane operating on the yet-to-open northern stretch of Tubman Avenue along the site's west edge. A close-up view offers plenty of insight into the materials and the process, showing how panels are hoisted by the crane and guided with lines by crews into position, how brick veneers are embedded into the face of the precast panels, and how these panels wrap around building corners.

Artworks Tower will rise to a height of 105.76 metres tall, while Artsy Boutique Condos is to top out at 42.37 metres. The two will bring a combined 440 residential units to the regenerating Regent Park community, with 330 suites in Artworks Tower and another 110  in Artsy Boutique Condominiums.
