The next phase has been announced at Brightwater, the long-awaited redevelopment of the former Imperial Oil Lands at Lakeshore Road West and Mississauga Road on the Port Credit waterfront. Being developed by Port Credit West Village Partners—a joint venture of DiamondCorp, Dream Unlimited, FRAM + Slokker, and the Kilmer Group—this new phase has been dubbed 'The Mason' and it will add another 160 condominium units including 16 townhomes to the 72-acre community, following on the heels of initial phases Brightwater I & II and Brightwater Towns.

With a master plan designed by Giannone Petricone Associates and Urban Strategies, a first phase designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects, and townhomes designed by superkül, The Mason, designed by architects—Alliance, brings more architectural variety to the site as a nine-storey boutique condo.

“It has been nearly one year since we launched the first phase of the Brightwater community, and we’ve been delighted by the reception so far,” reads a statement from Ken Tanenbaum, Chairman of Port Credit West Village Partners. “The Mason is a special part of our story because it is located right at the heart of the 72-acre master-planned site. It is a jewel within a jewel, where the quality of life will shine. With The Mason, we’ve continued to deliver on our vision of excellent design and keeping the community experience at the forefront of our efforts. We can’t wait to see the main street retail corridor and Village Square bustling with activity as community members experience life at Brightwater.”

The building's design meets the street with a double-height space featuring floor-to-ceiling glazing that is designed to act "as an extension of the neighbouring main street retail corridor" while providing views into some of the amenities and lobby area. Above the glazed base, the exterior transitions into industrial-inspired façades with a red brick finish.

“When we began our work on The Mason at Brightwater, we wanted to bring a contemporary expression of a vibrant main street Ontario experience to life while incorporating the site’s rich history as a brickyard into the design details,” reads a statement by Robert Cadeau, Senior Associate, architects—Alliance. “To optimize views and light, we flipped the original orientation of the site during our process so we could offer the south-facing courtyard as part of that expression. The linear park and the pedestrian promenade function as the arteries of The Mason, which will be the vibrant heart of the entire community.”

Approximately 5,000 ft² of amenity spaces will feature interiors appointed by Truong Ly Design. A rendering of the lobby—where first impressions are made—offers a glimpse into the natural finishes with machined accents that will define the space, including light woodgrain, marbled stone, ombre metallic bronze, and rope-inspired lighting, all lit by recessed lighting and natural light from oversized windows at the end of the hall.

“Throughout our design process, we’ve envisioned the Brightwater community as a holistic exploration of elements from the earth to the waterfront,” reads a statement from Truong Ly, Founder, Truong Ly Design Inc. “The Mason at Brightwater continues that journey, transitioning to a light, bright, and airy design that is timelessly elegant and sophisticated. Inside the suites, we’ve continued to prioritize open-plan concepts with effective layouts each connected to their own outdoor spaces, so that The Mason can be home for anyone who wants to experience modern waterfront living.”

The Mason's 160 suites will be available in a range of one, two-bedroom, and penthouse units spanning from 470 to over 1,100 ft² in area and priced starting from the high $500,000s. This and previous phases will contribute to a community-wide total of over 2,500 condominium suites and over 400 townhomes, to be woven together by 18 acres of green space.
