Roughly one year after demolition commenced for portions of the 1972-opened Galleria Shopping Centre at Dupont and Dufferin in Toronto's West End, the first phase of ELAD Canada's new Galleria on the Park mixed-use community is advancing through the early stages of construction. The first towers set to rise from the 20-acre master-planned community are a pair of Core Architects-designed buildings set to rise 24 and 29 storeys at the west end of the site. They are known as Galleria 01 & 02.

After a mid-2020 ground breaking ceremony on the cleared section of the site, (portions of the shopping centre remain active further east on the site), crews got to work drilling for the shoring system—retaining walls that hold back the surrounding soil during excavation. Months later, with the year now drawing to a close, excavation has begun to carve out the site, as shoring work continues along its curved southwestern edge.

The ongoing excavation will continue until five levels of underground parking can be accommodated in the pit. Once the structure has reached grade, work will continue on a nine-storey base building before it narrows to two individual tower volumes, with the taller 29-storey tower at the north end of the site along Dupont, and the 24-storey south tower to meet a new public street carving through the community.

As construction advances for Galleria 01 & 02, ELAD is moving forward with marketing of the community's next phase, Galleria III at the southwest corner of Dufferin and Dupont. Designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects, Galleria III features a distinct flatiron massing rising 31 storeys. Interiors are by DesignAgency

The completed community is planned to contain eight buildings with just shy of 2,900 new condominium units, anchored by a significant retail presence and a rebuilt Wallace Emerson Community Centre.
