Just a few years ago, Toronto's Ordnance Triangle—a small wedge of land bounded by the Kitchener and Lakeshore rail corridors east of Strachan—was home to aging industrial buildings and not much else. New infrastructure and residential towers have since populated the area in a mixed-use development known as Garrison Point. The latest phase of the community is a pair of Hariri Pontarini Architects-designed rental towers along the triangle's Strachan Avenue frontage, known as Novus at Garrison Point by developer BentallGreenOak.

The complex consists of 25 and 34-storey rental towers rising from a shared podium. Under construction since mid-2017, we most recently checked in on the site's progress back in October, 2019, when the towers stood at heights of 14 and 16 storeys. The towers topped out this past Spring, and now stand 391 ft / 119.17 m, and 295 ft / 89.91 m tall. Most recently, the tower crane was removed from the shorter building.

The first cladding installation was occurring around the time of our last update, with panels of dark, reflective curtainwall glazing on the podium levels, and on the tower levels above, a window wall system with creme-coloured spandrel panels framed in thin grey mullions. Cladding has since been installed across the majority of both buildings, just shy of the mechanical penthouse on the shorter tower, while three residential levels and the mechanical penthouse remain to be clad on the taller tower.

Additional finishes, including balcony cladding, will add to the exteriors in the coming months as interior finishing work progresses beyond the view of passersby. A rendering shows how the project is projected to look when construction wraps up early next year. A grocery store is expected to open on the second floor of the podium.
