This week's Throwback Thursday takes us to the Rosedale Ravine just west of Castle Frank Station in the heart of Toronto, where a covered arch bridge carries the Bloor Danforth subway line over Rosedale Valley Road. On June 1, 2014 the Bloor Yorkville skyline behind the bridge included a few projects under construction at the time, with X2 Condos on the far left, as well as the topped-out Milan Condos and the rising The Yorkville Condominiums visible further back and to the right.
Over five years later, on October 26th, 2019, the buildings mentioned above have long since been completed, while several new additions have joined the view. At the far left, one of the towers of U Condominiums peeks out from behind X2. Moving to the right, The Selby now dominates the middle ground while One Bloor East has added a new height peak to the background. At centre, 1 Yorkville with its crane now stands topped out 58 floors above Yonge and Yorkville. In the foreground of this cluster, the National Post building has been given a dark paint job, while two cranes can just be made out in front of it, marking the location where Rosedale on Bloor will rise.
