Midtown Toronto is being built out with new density faster than ever. Another high-rise residential project is gearing up to begin construction a few blocks east of Yonge and one block south of Eglinton where the start of construction is just around the corner for a new purpose-built rental tower by The Benvenuto Group at 71 Redpath Avenue, set to rise 21 storeys and bring 180 new apartments to the neighbourhood.

The project site at Soudan and Redpath was previously occupied by three single-family homes. Demolition permits for the site were issued by the City in mid-September, and the three homes have since been reduced to rubble. A conditional permit for the start of shoring was issued the same day, and the presence of steel I-beams indicate that a shoring rig's arrival could soon mark the start of construction.

The upcoming shoring phase will form below-grade earth retention walls that will pave the way for excavation to make way for the tower's underground levels. Upward construction would follow to form the site's garage, before rising above grade to reveal the building's 69-metre-tall design by NEUF architects and CMV Group architects.

Details laid out in a May submission for Site Plan Approval show that the tower will be finished in a mix of white brick masonry cladding, a window wall system with glazing and grey aluminum, curtainwall glass, and stone finish masonry. Inside, residents of the 180 rental units will have access to a collection of amenities with interiors by Patton Design Studio. These include several spaces on the ground and 4th floors, and a mix of indoor and outdoor rooftop amenities atop the 21st level.
