What was once considered a challenging development site, a wedge of Toronto land bound by the Kitchener and Lakeshore rail corridors—known as the Ordnance Triangle—is being built out with new high-density development, and connected to the surrounding city through new infrastructure. The small area will soon be home to four new residential towers, as well as a pair of pedestrian and cycle bridges linking it to the existing neighbourhoods to the north and south.

The largest of these projects is Garrison Point, a pair of Hariri Pontarini Architects-designed condominium towers from developers CityzenDiamond CorpFernbrook Homes, and Greybrook Realty Partners. The project's 29-storey tower recently topped out at a height of 99 metres, and forming of the taller 35-storey, 119-metre component is nearing completion. Cladding installation is also progressing smoothly, with the shorter tower almost entirely enclosed and all but the final few levels of the taller tower sealed off in the same window wall cladding system.

Just west of the condominium buildings, another pair of towers are rising for BentallGreenOak's Novus at Garrison Point project. Also designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects, this project is bringing 34- and 25-storey rental towers to the Ordnance Triangle's Strachan Avenue frontage. These towers now stand 12 and 11 storeys above grade,  ascending quickly as crews form the towers' repeating residential floor layouts.

The first hints of exterior materials were recently spotted along Novus’ conjoined podium. This cladding comes in the form of a window wall system with clear glazing and creme-coloured spandrel panels framed in thin grey mullions.

The wedge of land where the new towers are under construction will soon be connected to the communities to the north and south via Garrison Crossing, a pair of bridges spanning the Lakeshore and Kitchener rail corridors. Overseen by the City through CreateTO and designed by PedeltaDTAH, and AECOM, the bridges are now structurally complete and gearing up for an opening in the coming weeks.
