Heavy industry has moved on from Toronto's Liberty Village area, with much of the area's former brownfield sites replaced by new high-density residential developments. Many more projects are under construction on the area's remaining vacant sites, including the second phase of CanAlfa Group's Liberty Central by the Lake development on East Liberty Street, just west of Strachan.

The new 27-storey second phase in the IBI Group-designed complex is well under construction immediately east of the existing 25-storey first phase. Construction for the second phase has been active since the start of 2018, when heavy equipment arrived on site. By September 2018, excavation of the site’s underground components had wrapped up, paving the way for the start of forming.

Roughly one year later, the site’s underground parking levels have been formed. Above, the building has since risen five levels over East Liberty Street, and the speed of forming is expected to increase over the coming months as crews get into the swing of forming repeating layouts for the "typical" tower floorplans.

Just west of the rising tower, a final underground parking level is being formed for CentreCourt's 39 East Liberty Street project. This IBI Group-designed tower was excavated in tandem with the adjacent Liberty Central phase 2, and will soon begin its ascent 25 storeys into the neighbourhood skyline.
