Part of Toronto's North St James Town revitalization, construction is heating up at the site of Tridel's Via Bloor, a two-tower condo development coming to the Bloor and Parliament intersection. The 38 and 46-storey architectsAlliance-designed towers have been under construction for 17 months now, during which time the site's shoring and excavation phases have both wrapped up, and forming has begun for the four-level underground parking garage that will serve both towers.

Excavation was completed last fall, paving the way for a crane installation in October, and the start of forming shortly after. A second crane followed, with the foundations being poured and the lowest P4 and P3 parking levels being formed. The final sections of the P3 level are wrapping up, with columns now in place for the P2 parking levels above. Tridel expects the project to reach grade by early fall, roughly one year after forming began.

Once the project reaches grade, it will be another few months before the complex's five-storey podium is formed, and the typical tower floorplates begin to rise above. Once these milestones are crossed, the first glazing and precast concrete installations will follow shortly after.

Beyond its visual impact, contrasting the local built form, the project will have an immense contribution to the area's retail offerings. Formerly occupied by a grassy hill and a billboard, the project's base will feature approximately 16,000 ft2 of retail space, helping to animate the neighbourhood's north end.
