A couple blocks west of Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga, construction is progressing well at the site of Wesley Tower at Daniels City Centre, the latest phase in The Daniels Corporation's City Centre community. The site at Confederation Parkway and City Centre Drive is abuzz with activity as the podium levels materialize for the two-tower, Rafael + Bigauskas Architects-designed condominium complex.
Before the 43-storey first phase tower begins its ascent, crews are forming the five-storey base that will support the towers above. The latest photos of the site show that forming of the podium's ground floor has wrapped up, while much of the second level and elements of the third floor have been formed above. While only approximately half-formed, the podium's impact on Confederation Parkway is already apparent.
The Wesley Tower's City Centre Drive frontage will feature a slight wave pattern, the first signs of which are already visible along the second-floor slab. Rows of vertical fins will be applied that will highlight the podium's irregular shape. The podium's massing, footprint size, and non-repeating floor layouts are among the factors that require more forming time that the slender, repeating layouts set to follow for the towers.
Once complete, the podium will house a selection of amenities for residents, with a set of figure3 Interior Design-appointed indoor amenities to be known as "Club W", as well as outdoor podium-top amenities with landscaping by Land Art Design.
