This week's Throwback Thursday takes us high above Toronto's Distillery District to turn back the clock just four years to the changes to the spectacular Downtown view experienced by west-facing residents in the area's condo towers. Back on June 23, 2012, the only complete condominium tower in the historic district was 'Pure Spirit' at 33 Mill Street. The view towards the Financial District at that time revealed the curving profile of the L Tower just beginning to reveal itself, at the left of the image below, while downed to the right of it, the crane for The Berczy was rising up from the St. Lawrence District.

Fast forward to April 30th, 2016, and the view enjoyed by residents of Pure Spirit—now joined by two newer condominium towers with similar views (Clear Spirit and The Gooderham)—has undergone a subtle transformation with the completion of those two buildings, and the addition of other new towers.

While the L Tower's crane is only now starting to be removed, to its left Backstage on The Esplanade, the Bremner Tower and the Delta Hotel's uppermost levels can be seen. Below and to the right of L Tower, a tent structure is serving as the temporary home of the St. Lawrence North Market, with work soon to begin on a replacement of the existing building a block to the north. At the centre of the image, the 58-storey 88 Scott Street can be seen rising into the skyline. At the far right, the new east tower of the Bay Adelaide Centre has filled in a gap in the skyline, while a small sliver of the under-construction EY Tower can be seen wedged between the Trump Tower and Bay Adelaide's west tower.
