Another future skyscraper is rising in Downtown Toronto, as podium levels are now forming at the site of Concert Properties88 Scott, a 58-storey Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects-designed condominium tower under construction at the northwest corner of Wellington and Scott. When we last checked in on the development's construction progress back at the start of May, the building's final below-grade level was being completed. In the time since, work has progressed quite a bit.

Crews have begun the process of installing formwork for the floors of the building's third level. This area of the podium will feature the reconstructed limestone facade of the former Royal and Sun Alliance building, a seven-storey office building taken down to make way for the new high-rise. The stone cladding was dismantled and is being cleaned in preparation for re-installation.

Once the podium levels have been built, work will move on to the tower floors above. Owing to the stepped nature of 88 Scott, the repetitive nature of the tower floors will be decreased a little over the typical Toronto condo tower, yet the smaller floor plates will still increase the rate at which the building grows.

Once construction of the development is complete, 88 Scott Street will have added 525 condominium units to the Downtown, creating a revitalized meeting point of the bustling Financial Core and the vibrant St. Lawrence neighbourhoods.

In addition to some of the best neighbourhood amenities the city has to offer, residents of 88 Scott will enjoy building amenities including the signature offering, a SkyLounge which will give residents of all floors a common space high up the tower to take in city views.
