Summer is kicking into full swing and the city of Toronto is bustling with interesting construction projects to catch up on, nowhere more so than in the Entertainment District. On the southeast corner of the intersection of Richmond and Peter Streets is the Wallman Architects-designed Tableau Condos by Urban Capital Property Group, Malibu Investments, and ALIT Developments. Featured prominently in a region boasting an impressive selection of projects—from QRC West and its imposing delta frames to Picasso Condos with its cubism inspired façade—Tableau Condominiums stands out with an imposing four-storey “tabletop” podium with a colonnade bordering a piazza.
Last time we checked in, the project was nearly topped out at a final height of 384 feet; now UrbanToronto has the privilege to share some elevated shots of this progress taken from atop the adjacent Picasso. The exterior cladding and balcony framing are both progressing up the height of the tower, almost caught up to the top of concrete slabs.
Preparations for the series of final concrete pours is also underway, with the formwork and coupling rebar visible for the mechanical room penthouse structure at the top of the tower.
We also captured what for most people would be the terrifying process of installing the final pieces of the temporary exterior hoist system. A worker is perched precariously on top of the new steel frame segment, in the process of detaching it from the lifting crane hooks.

While this is a job few would want to tackle no matter what, the construction worker is safely secured via a harness and cable to the hoist structure.
