Karma Condos, a 50-storey residential tower at 21 Grenville Street in Downtown Toronto, has reached a major milestone in construction. Developed by partnership of Lifetime Developments and CentreCourt Developments, glazing is now being installed on the lower floors as the architectsAlliance-designed tower continues to rise into the Toronto skyline.
When we last checked in with the project on April 1st, Karma had reached a height of 8 storeys, following the laborious and immensely complex repositioning of the 1873 heritage John Irwin House from one side of the lot to the other, an engineering feat with the parking garage built beneath it as it was held aloft over the excavation pit. With John Irwin House—which will house retail at grade—now in place and Karma's podium completed, construction has followed at an impressive pace. New photos offer a closeup view of construction progress, with glazing clearly visible on the lower floors, as Karma now rises to a height of 13 storeys.
From the other side of the construction site, a closeup image focuses on the glazing, with it now installed on the first three storeys of the the tower. The large windows and balcony doors of corner units dominate the photo below, where a construction worker ponders the view offered in one of the corner suites.
We will keep you updated as Karma continues to quickly ascend into the increasingly crowded Toronto skyline, though there is still a long way to go before the final height of 50 storeys is reached. Upon completion in 2016, Karma Condos will add 495 residential units to the rapidly densifying neighborhood of Yonge and College.
