Annexed to the City of Toronto in 1909, Davenport Village was known for its industrial facilities providing jobs to the many Italian and Portuguese Canadians settled in the area. Since the decline of the industry along the Dupont Street corridor in the 1970s and 1980s, the neighbourhood has experienced a shift and is now home to a growing number of young professionals and families. To accommodate this increase in population, several developments are coming to this part of town, such as Neudorfer Corporation and Channington Developments' Fuse & Fuse2 Condos.

Located at the northwest corner of Lansdowne and Dupont just south of the Canadian Pacific rail tracks, the Barrett Architect-designed project consists of two condominium towers, 27 and 23-storeys high, respectively containing 290 and 286 suites, and rising on top of a restored industrial brick building. The latter will house a new Shoppers Drug Mart, a 24-hour Metro grocery store, and a bank. Undoubtedly, this will have a welcome and positive impact on this intersection, while bringing additional amenities to current and future residents.

Since our last update, a few changes can be seen on the construction site. The most obvious one is the arrival and installation of a second crane, located on the western side of the site where Fuse2 will be erected. Scheduled for occupancy in Fall 2016, construction should soon take this building skyward in order to meet the not-so-far-away deadline.

On the eastern edge of the site, the base of the first tower has made its way to the surface. Level 1 is now taking shape above the street level and will eventually become a park for the residents. This is an important milestone for the project that will soon dominate to the intersection, the highest tower being somewhat higher than the neighbouring building across the street.
