Waterfront Toronto’s revitalization of the Toronto Harbour continues its push eastward with developments like Tridel and Hines' Aquavista at Bayside. Designed by the New York City-based Arquitectonica, Aquavista will stand 12 storeys tall along the formerly industrial waterfront, just east of Sherbourne Common and Tridel's Aqualina development.
The design of the development features a sweeping curve that scoops into the tower's south facade, opening up a large podium-top space for the development's second floor amenity terrace which will feature an infinity pool, shaded canopies, fire pits, and lounging alcoves. The building surrounds all of this, incorporating stepped terraces and balconies facing the lake, maximizing the views of residents.
Indoor amenities facing the terrace include a billiards lounge, bar and fireplace area, dining area with adjoining chef’s kitchen, while one floor below is the building's Vista Club health + fitness centre, with cardio machines, strength building equipment, spinning and yoga studios as well as his and hers saunas. Aquavista's Screening Room theatre can be found here too. A diagram of both the indoor and outdoor amenity spaces' layout is included below.
Aquavista will also add significantly to the surrounding pedestrian realm, with retail, restaurants, cafes and patios fronting onto Merchants’ Wharf as well as an eastward extension of the granite-paved Waterfront Promenade from Sugar Beach and Sherbourne Common.
Aquavista, currently seeking LEED® Platinum Certification, is slated for completion in the Summer of 2018.
