It has been less than a week since we last took a look at One Bloor East, Great Gulf Homes' landmark high-rise condominium rising at Yonge and Bloor, but we just can't stay away from this one.
Work on the 75-storey, Hariri Pontarini-designed tower has recently progressed past the 6-storey podium, and work on the tower portion's first floor is well under way. The project continues to grow in height, but it is other recent developments on site that have taken our Forum by storm.
When we looked at One Bloor East last week, our readers were buzzing about the reflective curtain-wall cladding being applied to the podium section, specifically a convex section of glass hugging one of the podium's graceful curves. The high-quality glazing has been very well-recieved thus far, and to add to the excitement, today a section of concave glazing is now visible on the north side of the building's second floor.
The building's exterior finishes, though still in their earliest stages, have drawn an overwhelmingly positive response. While the interest in this project is no doubt boosted by its final height, the early examples of the building's exterior finishes have been the main draw in recent weeks. In the image below, we take a closer look at the well-recieved first panel of concave glazing. In a city where so much seems to be built as inexpensively as possible, the rare curved glass at One Bloor is finding us happy to be seduced.
