We know how much the typical UrbanToronto reader loves a juicy rendering or a dramatic construction shot. Not found so frequently here though, but just as much fun, are the twisted forms of bygone buildings in a good demolition shot. We have a symphony of destruction for you today: the unlamented tower from the old Valhalla Inn is a shadow of its former self as crews smash and separate the materials for recycling as construction gets underway on Edilcan's One Valhalla condominium project. Here's the site as it appeared on this holiday Monday.
Here's how this tower appeared three months ago.
Besides destruction, construction can also be found on the site, by the west edge, where the single below ground level is going in and the first crane is up.
The project only needs to go down one storey as the bulk of parking will be housed in the podium where it faces the 427. The parking area will be disguised so that it looks like the townhomes on the east side of the podium, which can be seen below in the rendering of the complex's towers.
One Valhalla is designed by Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects.
