Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Was staying in dt KW last week, and got a few pics of this line from the Charles/Benton area. Seems like Charles is being extended/widened in the distance, and north of here the line splits into its downtown loop.

Well, it does need to fit an LRT through the middle!

All works are LRT related. It's true though, that for much of Charles, the curb-to-curb width (including the LRT ROW) will be wider than before.

Lot more up on site

The platforms will support 2 cars sets from day one. I don't see this line being ready by June to start testing cars if there are cars to be tested in the first place.

Correct. Only OMSF to Erb will be ready by June for testing. That's the Waterloo Spur.

Former Waterlooian here. Thanks to everyone in this thread for their dedication to posting updates, and on such a regular schedule. It's really exciting to see this come together after all these years, and what progress it's making indeed! I used to think this day would never come.

Question, since I really need to get up to speed on this project:
Is the plan for the ION system to have signal priorities at vehicular intersections and rail crossings?

I'd hope that at least along the open track (the Waterloo Corridor and along the Huron Spur), the LRT will be treated like a mainline railway, with full priority (crossbucks, lights, bells, gates) similar to how the outer sections of the Calgary and Edmonton LRTs operate. Along Charles, through Downtown Kitchener and Uptown Waterloo, I hope to see some transit priority at signalized crossings.
