As quoted on skyscrapercity by TallerBetter:

"Which much unloved Po-Mo Byzantian Wedding Cake piece of confectionary hostelry on King St. will be by next year an extremely cool international boutique hotel franchise whose name consists of only one letter? Add one more 5star for TO. You heard it here first folks.
No multiple guesses allowed."

Will the current building be demolished or just given an extreme makeover, and finally, where will Holiday Inn build it's new downtown hotel?

I'd take that rumor with multiple grains of salt, given the inaccuracy of the original post. First of, W Hotels, while nice, are certainly not five star hotels. Clearly the poster doesn't know what he's talking about.

... and no amount of renovating could make the Holiday Inn a 5 star hotel, let alone 'cool.'

This rumor's been floating around for some time now.

A W hotel is coming, it was in TheStar a while back. It's under 30 stories I recall.

And there's no 5 star hotels in Toronto yet.

4.5 rounds to 5

The W Hotel branded property that will be built has been reported previously as being located in the King West area. It will be called "aloft", and will most likely be under 20 floors tall.

^I believe both aloft and W Hotel are separate brands within the Starwood Hotels Group

Don't believe Expedia ;) Read CAA, there's no such thing as 4.5, I've been in "2.5* hotels" that were listed on expedia and they weren't like a 3* at all. Also, the ratings on expedia aren't even that great, and some should be better or worse rated from what I experienced in my travels. I'm not the only one who's said that too.

The Hazelton is coming!

^^ Is coming, but isn't done yet :) So there isn't one yet.

It's funny how hotels say they'll be 5-star before they open. I'll wait till they get evaluated and see what people have to say :)

So? 5-star might mean that they give out free complimentary school notebooks and binders to paying guests, wockawockawocka

I thought that the W Hotel was to be along Front Street somewhere between Spadina and Bathurst (a big "somewhere").

^ a nasty somewhere, not a big one. That's a certified wasteland!

^that's the 'aloft' hotel on the south side of Victoria Memorial Park near Bathurst. As mentioned above, aloft is a hotel chain run by Starwood but is cheaper than W hotels. Right now W is a big 'Where?'
