Vision for the Railway Tracks and Waterfront

Just something that popped into my head (although im sure many people have proposed this before) when looking at Waite Air Photos.

This is probably the most crude diagram you will ever see
untitled.jpg

Starts out at the parking lot south of St. Lawrence Market which would be park also, runs down the tracks over to Spadina. There is a grand park connecting CN Tower/Skydome to the waterfront. Also a park that runs from St. Lawrence Market to the waterfront.

Dare to dream eh.

all we need is Burns' (or should I say Castros) one trillion dollar bill

Nice idea but it's not viable. The various land parcels are owned by different organizations, are extremenly pricey, and the city would have to buyout from every single one of them.

I think a small park was proposed over the railway shed at one point.

You will be glad to know that the very bottom green patch you have on the waterfront is already planned to be a park. That is the location of HtO, as a matter of fact.

I would be so happy to see those rail lines buried underground and something interesting done with the land on top. Those rail underpasses are just nasty.

Just covering over the railway tracks with a linear park would be enough. It would solve part of that nagging 'barrier to the waterfront' problem.
