TTC Subway Station Construction/Modernization

Thankfully, it is probably going to be covered with a matching metal sliver. You can see where they’ve done that at Queen’s Park.

I would have loved to see the station done in faux (but quality) pink sandstone tile, with faux copper ceiling panels to match its name sake.

For St. Patrick a yellow brick subway tile matching the church, and uplighting of the columns.

Yeah, yeah, I know..... money, LOL Still nice thought, to me.

A step forward.

When did that program start ... 2008? They might be finished by 2050 ... by which point they'll probably have to start again as they add platform doors. :)
The first renovation from 2009 has long concluded. They’re only putting in new lighting now because the early generation LED lighting they initially put in was failing.

There's still many stations with the old curved lighting that's so much dimmer than the triangular lights they put in, in 2009. The triangular were brighter and whiter, and I assume the older ones are still not LED.

Are the wall panels back up or does it still look like a movie set from Aliens?
Are you thinking of St. Patrick and Queen’s Park, and maybe even Osgoode? No, none of those stations have completed walls.

Of note at St. Patrick and Queen’s Park: they changed the design a bit. Now there’s a bit of an overhang on the platform side above the contrasting colour band. I should have taken a photo yesterday.

Was a lot of the time not spent doing asbestos abatement here? Doesn't excuse the amount of time that it has taken to get the paneling back up though.

Need I remind about that abhorrent proposal from the Toronto Community Foundation back in the late 2000's that would have seen the station turned into this... At least we didn't end up with that as much as the status quo is quite meh.

Those animated horses would've been great.

The entire station design seems like an homage to the history of filmmaking.
