TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

The lights on the platforms and at Niagara intersection are not working at this time and waiting final connection. It may have to do with the button on the platform. The traffic lights are cover up.

Not sure why the signs are up now for the platforms.

These standards can be seen a block away at night.

Even the rebuilt platform at Queen lights aren't working considering they where earlier this year.

Looks like some was speeding and no idea how to drive.

When compared to the properly lit and signed islands to the north the difference is clear. There is a reason they are intended to be lit. The city should replace the temporary illuminated signage until the permanent connections are in place.

What did the old islands look like? Were they also lit?

These platforms are brand new and never there before. This stop will replace the Front St and Wellington stops that never had platforms.

The Queen St Stop was lighted before being rebuilt after only 5 year of use.

Adding those platforms fixes one of the most common complaints about streetcars: that they take up two lanes when passengers are boarding. It seems like it would be beneficial to the rider as well, knowing that a bike or car will not run you over as you board.

Are there plans to keep installing these? I guess the restrictions are street width & accessibility, and whether you'd remove sidewalk width or narrow car lanes to get the extra space.

I noticed the other day that they've replaced most of the islands on Lakeshore with these new wider ones. Does anyone know if any of the Lakeshore islands are new or are they all replacements?

Another collision, this one clearly more serious.

No temporary lights. No permanent lights. The permanent installation is missing the yellow/black striped hazard signs, possibly electrical connections, etc. The city has created this very dangerous situation by not keeping the temporary lighting in place.

It may have something to do with lighting....it may also just be it's "weird". I drove by it this morning at around 9:30...daylight, obviously......was travelling north on Bathurst, and it just sort of "jumps out at you" once you get past the line of cars turning right onto Front.

Not sure if it is just a visual thing or if it actually slightly changes the lane alignments....but it is a bit of a weird thing the first time you see it.

Wow, the city spent all that money, don't put lighting, and now people crash and damage their cars, along with the barrier itself, which will now require repair. Good job.

Seems all too typical, one small oversight screws up a much larger project.
