yup
All of the month of the Don land is gone under the Keating plan that requires 4 m of earth on top of it. The Lake Shore land is held by others which is part of Waterfront Plan and will not be use for TTC yard.
You need something off the Leslie line since Cherry St extension is close to 2030 before its built.
TTC looked at the Portland area before going with the current yard location since it was the only large parcel of land it could find then.
Again the city keeps shootings itself by not allowing TTC to have tracks on Richmond to Bathurst St from Parliament as well Adelaide. This would help TTC when King and Queen has to be close for events and not put pressure on the other route.
If TTC goes ahead with the extra 100 cars, other than Hillcrest where will TTC find land for another yard to hold 100 cars??
I said Parliament to Bathurst, but cars do use the road if all the overhead has been replace after reconstruction. Victoria intersection still needs to be rebuilt. Haven't look at Richmond in sometime. What is the reason they don't want to run service on Richmond when there are already tracks there?
Why buy more land. Use what they have and intensive the development. They can look at adding a second level to some of their yards. Expensive but not as expensive as land it becoming (plus all the issues of getting tracks to the facility are already complete).
Again, until Hydro One changes its tune, nothing new is going to be build in their corridor.you could easily do a small yard between the sobeys and the rail corridor at the Humber Loop as well, probably enough to store 20-30 cars, to service the 501. It's in a hydro corridor, but if all you are doing is parking trains, it's not a problem. I think it's owned by the food terminal right now.

There are plans floating around what going to happen to the Food Terminal and lands, but decades down the road at this time.
If they built the Queensway Line to Sherway, there are a few spots for a yard along the route.
Been done in a number of places in Europe, including buses with development on top of it. The development pays for building the yard in the first place.Has anyone considered burying a streetcar yard? Why build up when you can build a few dozen layers underground? Nothing like building a streetcar yard that doubles as a bomb shelter.

Streetcars are more important than residents. They only come once or twice a month while residents keep on flowing in.Would be worthwhile, considering how long it takes to get our streetcars we gotta keep them safe in the event of a calamity.
This morning there are 10 Flexitys on 512 as often is the case, and 3 are on 504, which I don't think I've seen on a weekday for a while.Cressy has confirmed that the next batch of Flexity’s are going to be put into service on the 504 on King Street.
The garage I saw in Geneva in 2012 was 3 levels with the lower level below ground staff parking, ground level buses and trams with the upper level for buses and offices.
