Transit City Details

^^Maybe by that time they'll have those new subway cars that allow for continuous walkway throughout the train ;). I only bring this up because it makes little sense to reroute a low preforming bus route or worse split it in two parts at the expense of continuous 'through' travel. Having one station at Kennedy and the next three blocks over is overkill when two sepapate midblock stops to the east and west of Kennedy benefits both routes 17 and 43, the mall/commercial strip, condos, the numerous apartment dwellers near Birchmount and Sheppard, the retirement home, office cluster and the GO station.

300m tunnels would be longer than any of those stations...you're implying we should build Spadina walkways all over the suburbs instead of carrying people that distance on the bus they're already on.

Dentrobate, the whole point is that very few people will want to continue past the subway on Birchmount. The overwhelming majority will transfer to the subway to continue their journey, so it makes a lot more sense to divert the route to the subway and inconvenience the small percentage who aren't transferring, rather than inconveniencing the vast majority who are.
