For those people interested, here is a comparison of highrise counts for New York, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnepeg, Ottawa and Montreal.



Chicago has the greatest scale height, 29 floors (scale height here means the number of additional floors for the number of highrises, reaching at least that number of floors, to drop by a factor of ten). Next is New York, with a scale height of 22 floors. Calgary and Toronto are almost tied, with scale heights of 19 and 18 floors respectively. Montreal is another step down, at a scale height of 15 floors, while Winnipeg and Edmonton share a low scale height of 12 floors.
