Toronto Woodbine GO Station | 14.01m | 2s | Metrolinx | GHD

I don't see how this Woodbine GO train station will be of much use. It's at the far deserted corner of the large Woodbine race track area, not at the spectator and casino part of it, and otherwise by a large sprawling industrial (and mostly non-pedestrian) area, as can be seen from the satellite view.

Are those small roads inside the Woodbine area open to the general public, or just for internal restricted use by the horse racing people? If they want people to use them for walking to the casino, hotel, etc., they would at the very least have to add sidewalks, and I doubt many would be using them except for maybe when there was some big event happening. Google walking directions oddly show someone would have to go all the way around the western side (50 minutes).

In any case, the already existing TTC and Miway buses on Rexdale Blvd and Hwy 27 get people much closer to there than this proposed GO train station would.
I suppose if the GO station could have stairs going to inlet stops for TTC buses and waiting areas on Hwy 27, it could a little more useful than it would appear. But there's no sidewalks there now.
There is a huge development coming to the Woodbine grounds : https://woodbinecommunityplan.com/ So this would be futureproofing for that.

This would also be a lovely location to add an interchange station stop on a future Finch West LRT extension, which could then continue through towards the airport.

And isn't this station meant to replace the Etobicoke North GO eventually?

I think Line 6 needs to interchange here as does UPX. And then Line 6 would only need to go one more stop to the racetrack itself. Sure, it could eventually go to YYZ, but with a UPX stop here, why is it that necessary?

The internal roads in Woodbine do allow public traffic, but they are VERY pedestrian hostile as currently constructed.

I seem to recall somewhere that the track/switches and signalling make it next to impossible for UPX trains to stop at Woodbine and be able to get over to Airway junction.
Greater experts than I can confirm or dispute this recollection.

There should be room so long as they build it on the east end of the grounds since the crossovers of the plant start just before Carlingview drive and they wouldn't build a station right on top of crossovers. Even Mimico which is the only station located entirely within a plant doesn't have any crossovers adjacent to the platforms.
