I am told that the handle is still coming. A steel structure has to be assembled up there for it to installed onto.

Thanks for the uploads 42. I have a unit in westlake 2. Move in date is April 15th. We need to lobby together and pressure the government to push for better transit options to the downtown core. A shuttle to the mimico go station is a realistic start.

Then when Mr. Christie gets demolished.. Or if it ever does... maybe they'll make good use of this area, apparently it's been zoned for commercial purposes.

I emailed our local MPP - Peter at ( pmilczyn.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org) the following questions and have yet to get a reply.

... Hi Peter,
Any thoughts on Transit improvements for the lakeshore/ parklawn area? As I mentioned below, I'm moving to the Lakeshore / Park Lawn area and will be commuting downtown, can you please speak to what's being proposed / planned for the area and when:
-Will there be a kiss & ride to the Mimico Go Station? If so, when?

-What's happening with the Mr. Christie Site? I know it's - been closed but are we turning this into a transit hub/ Go station stop? If so, when?
-When will the Lakeshore Go Station line be electrified?
-I've read that the Mr. Christie site has been zoned for commercial use - does this mean along with transit we'll see restaurants and shops?

..... Any thoughts, what have you guys heard?

No real transit improvements planned other than maybe, maybe, a GO stop. Waterfront West LRT connection might (and I mean might) get funding soon which means the trip downtown might be a bit shorter but that involves work in Parkdale, not in Mimico.

Mimico will likely never get a PPUDO, unless it gets one in the most recent renovations, which I don't think it is.

Mr. Christie has been bought by a developer who wants to build condos from my understanding. Commercial zoning means that it is supposed to be employment lands, not condos, but that will likely change with a rezoning. More than likely that a site that large will have retail. Expect a Cityplace type development but with a bit more employment, its a huge site. This is also a municipal issue that Milczyn may not be qualified to answer.

Lakeshore GO line electrification has no solid date right now, Metrolinx is planning for it, but it should be in the 5ish year range. Probably 2018-2019.

Drivers in the area are happy that the new right turn late is coming into being on Park Lawn.

Thanks for photos. Does anyone know when Metro and Shoppers are moving in?

Last I heard from the folks at the presentations centre is that Metro is suppose to open in January, likely around the move in time of West Lake phase 1.

January is quite tight. Nothing but bare shell in there now. I doubt they can open in 2 months.

Why did it take so long before any significant food drug etc commercial development was included in the developments down at Humber Bay?

There is a Sobeys on the Queensway, but that's not walkable, and the location of that plaza has meant nothing but grief for traffic in the area.

The planning process should have more teeth to force developers to put in the commercial space early on. Humber Bay continues to be under-serviced. There have been enough people down there to justify it, for the past decade!

no market until the residential side developed.

Its no different than new suburban areas, retail plazas don't show up until the residential is well on its way to completion.
