Even vacant and dilapidated, it was one of the best looking buildings in the area. It is gorgeous. But agree that an empty building usually does not contribute to the vitality of a neighbourhood. However, there are a lot more factors behind the problems in this area than merely the vacant state of the Loblaw Groceteria building.

Once this is done this corner is going to be cleaned up considerably. For such a long time it's been junked up by the poor state of this heritage building. Its restoration will make this corner finally feel alive.

It's a complete tear down

The intersection is enormous, Lake Shore is huge, fast, windy and difficult to cross. Doesn't exactly help.
This development will help bring some more life.

This must look really sad for those who don't realize it's being rebuilt.
After being there for so many years, it seems to be disappearing rather quickly actually, and it feels very odd to see the space opening up.
