Would you call this area Uptown Whitby? I'm not sure but there is development coming to this area. This is a development of part of the Taunton Gardens plaza.

According to the architect, this site is a "Residential development for seniors, includes a gym, spa, craft room, patios and restaurant dining facilities."

Staff Report
  • Applications for Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment for site specific policies have been submitted to permit the proposed development of 340 residential units within two 18-storey towers, with 1,468 m2 (15,802 ft.2) of retail and personal services on the ground floor podium. The proposed development includes 466 parking spaces accommodated through surface parking and four levels of underground parking.

I was in the adjacent parking lot late this week and in late Feb. In late Feb shoring was underway with at least two shoring machines on site. This week they were well into excavation. No real opportunity for a picture as from ground level the site presents itself as hording with dump trucks leaving. I will post a photo/update next time I am in the area and if I see anything worth noting. Marketing for this project was posted on the hoarding as 55+ apartments.

I have attached two pictures from February 25 taken from across the street in the The Home Depot parking lot. (another Triovest property)
