? Bagel Stop already returned and has been open in the new York Concourse for a couple of years now.Or that bagel place. I walked into the Bay Concourse multiple times and thought I had a stroke...

Yeah, that would be nice but I doubt it - the chain seems to be contracting. Having a DQ would be nice too.

Yeah, but it’s just not the same without the lacklustre ventilation allowing the smell of burnt toast to permeate through the concourse...
Not related to THIS Union revitalization but, Verster got a very on point question about the lack of escalators and super narrow platforms at Union as well as crowding at the recent Feb 5 town hall. He then mentioned that they will be redoing the platforms 2-3 at a time after the Southern Expansion is done. Will be interesting . . .

Which will mean construction will continue at the station for the forseeable future.
As to removing escalators - what is *so* special about Union Station? Other stations around the world didn't seem to have trouble to such an extent with this century old technology.

How many of them are open at both ends with a partially open roof over them though? I think someone said something about them having problems with snow rain and ice and also salt as well.Yeah what's so special about Union? Many cities around the world have managed to figure out how to get escalators to the platform without any fuss.

And they had to chance to fully cover all the tracks/platforms but instead choose to retain the bush shed.
The station concourse is climate controlled, and the platforms aren't. Doors are needed to separate the two areas. Doors directly after escalator landings is a big no, due to safety concerns. So they will be redoing the subway platform which is official listed as Platforms 1 and 2? The whole reason they started at Platform 3 was because of possible confusion with the subway station.
As for the escalators there is a very good reason for not having them at Union. Years ago there was a very serious incident when a train disembarked at Union during Rush Hour. An escalator malfunctioned, sped up and sent alot of people to hospital. After the incident escalators were removed system wide.

A solution maybe to install air curtains at those escalators access.
