It looked like it was going to be a glassy grey tower in the rendering, but it's turning out to be an interesting neo-Brutalist edifice.
I was just thinking this – not sure if intentional, or if I'm reading too much into it, but this almost feels like an homage to the big Queen's Park buildings along Bay and Wellesley just up the street (Mowat Block, etc).Love the nod to 1960s/70s office architecture. Perhaps Torontonians will finally develop an appreciation for it and our inventory of 1960s70s office buildings can be saved. I suspect it will come too late for many of them. We lost a beautiful one just a few months ago on King West. If only it had hung on another 10-15 years.
On a more positive note, this 1960s/70s revival is a pleasant surprise.
