Thanks for the great interior and exterior photos - turned out a lot better than the final renderings suggested, though the loss of the original details (wood interior, etc.) is unfortunate. A rather "masculine" structure.

I think it didn't quite live u to its original potential but I hope in the future they really do construct a tower on the northern end of the building. Also hopefully something nice with the half tennis court they have on the south end of this so the empty windowless black wall will be hidden. Not bad though some details I really like like the stairs in front and behind the building so they can alleviate fan traffic during large games. I really hope Canadian universities can catch up to US ones in terms of athletics.

Nothing in Canada compares to U of T's spectacular architecture, great public spaces, spectacular scenery with the downtown skyline surrounding it and proximity to other landmarks like the ROM and Queen's Park.

Why does it have to be one or the other? Comparing UofT and UBC's campuses is comparing apples and oranges. It makes no sense. They each offer a very different, and visually stunning, experience.

I love parts of the U of T campus (the old campus and Robarts Library in particular) but overall, the McGill campus is much nicer. McGill is a better comparison in terms of both setting and architecture than UBC (UBC has an unbeatable picturesque setting including a clothing optional beach and some beautiful buildings but it's from a different era). McGill's larger and more diverse stock of old buildings (nicely complemented by the historic and majestic buildings on nearby rue Sherbrooke) creates a more beautiful setting and then there's Parc du Mont-Royal, with its impressive vistas and lovely public spaces!

I disagree completely. McGill has no building comparable to University College. Buildings like Victoria College or Massey College with its brilliant combination of Modernist and Gothic styles are singular in Canada. To see the spires of Hart House, Soldier's Tower, University College and Trinity College together is just sublime. U of T's architecture is second to none. Its student lounges, picturesque quads and courtyards and granite walkways give it the best public realm. The urban scenery around it is also second to none. Toronto has the best skyline in Canada and the landmarks on the edge of U of T's campus are grand and monumental.
