There's something severely wrong with Toronto Hydro and this idiotic fetish they have of doing utility cuts where there's been a recently complete (or soon to be complete project). I'm just going to outright assume it's them because of their track record of being completely inept, but they're more than happy to prove me wrong if they'd like.

This is part of the reason why we cant have anything nice in this city which lasts for more than 2-3 years before some kind of defect comes to light.

Lets keep an eye on the above........i haven't had an in person look; but the photos suggest a sand-based filler, not concrete between the bricks. With the right tools and training they should be liftable intact.

Regardless, having to lift something that's what, a year old? ...............is not reasonable.

It’s also possible these markings are just part of a general utility locate for work happening nearby. I know in the past I’ve given locate companies specific instructions not to mark up an area of completed construction on the same property, but this is often the result.

this is how it's done in most other cities but Toronto Hydro would not make the effort to carefully remove the paving bricks.. easier to cut and patch with asphalt!

This city really needs to learn how to work with replaceable pavers. In places with frequent need to access utilities, it is a much more sustainable solution and provides for a much better public realm. They also have the side benefit of being good for traffic calming on streets that really should be only 30 kph.

Yep. We just had the idewalk put in last year. Sod not even a year and I see nothing but orange marks everywhere.

Not much to point out to them, they dont even know their left hand from right hand. If it's infact Toronto Hydro, i'm sure they forgot to do some kind of work and a lightbulb just all of a sudden went off for them.
