I can't imagine that they can go very tall unless they also purchase a couple of the parcels to the south on Yonge. The combined footprint of Stollery's and Sunrise Records is tiny.
 
Holy crap Toronto, don't eff this up. Let's hope the developer feels the need to out-shine the neighbor across Yonge.

But really, it would seem there is a very good chance the land assembly is not yet complete. in fact it could be years before it is - and as mentioned before, if the land assembly isn't significant enough, the building won't be that big a deal anyway.

It is possible that some developer bought Stollerys just as an investment (sic) to force an exorbitant price from another, more likely land assembler? This happens all the time in retail - no reason it couldn't happen here.

Indeed it took a very long time for the assembly at 1 Bloor East to happen and then the overall parcel traded hands to Bazis and then finally to Great Gulf (phewf!). Let's hope someone like Cityzen gets their hands on this and gives us some real architecture- NOT P-o-S!

A Theatre Park sized tower perhaps, or One King West.

Can't see whatever goes up here being more than 60 floors, without proper land assembly.
 
111 West 57th Street

111 West 57th Street is a supertall residential project by the JDS Development Group in midtown Manhattan in New York City. The building will be developed in the existing Steinway building. The building will rise to be 1,398 ft (426 m), making it one of the tallest residential buildings in the United States and the world. Upon completion, the tower will also hold the record as the skinniest skyscraper in the world, surpassing the Highcliff in Hong Kong, China. The tower will have a height to width ratio of 1:23. Excavation at the site is currently ongoing in preparation for the construction of the tower.
