There just aren't enough people fired up about Hamilton not having a team. And there are just way too many hurdles, including the state of the arena.

I think the only paths to the NHL are somebody with zillions of overpaying like crazy for a team and/or the Sabres stumbling enough in Buffalo that they cross the border one day.

It's more than a fresh coat of paint.

If someone wants to build a new arena in Hamilton with 100% private money, go for it. But there's absolutely no justification for taxpayers to spend a single cent on a new arena. We just don't need it and it would be a total waste of money.
 
Starting to see the types of entertainment that will be pulled in here. Early days and am quite hopeful will see a flurry more (including AHL , when does that get announced btw), but there should be a real concerted effort by all those not within the walls of TDC to make the experience top notch and very easy as well as safe. Wonder what Jackson Square is doing, hopefully not just sitting on its duff. Also connections to the GO Stations via shuttles and extra signage .

It definitely looks like a very serious reno. It's much better than hoped for when the city was looking at a $50 million job versus what has ended up being $280 million-plus.

I guess my ratings of some of the various events so far in terms of bigness are:
A+: Paul McCartney, Andrea Bocelli
A: Matt Rife (very popular right now, might sell out or come close)
A-: The Junos. Decently big deal.
Also A-: Machine Gun Kelly (arguably a big name. Some people seem to call him Discount Eminem.)
B+: Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Monster Jam (generally a pretty big show)
Also B+: Toronto Rock (averages something like 8000 people, is a decent draw, nice to have a sports tenant)
B: Live+Big Wreck, Brad Paisley, Old Dominion, Harlem Globetrotters (acts that could probably perform in much smaller arenas, but still nice to have)

By the looks of the progress inside, it feels like they're going to be cutting it VERY close with only 60 days left.

I think finishings can come together pretty quickly.

I can't tell if those are installed seats in the upper bowl in the below screenshot or some kind of roughed-out spots for seats.

The seats I'm not too worried about as it's a repetitive task without much variation - so they get it done relatively quickly.
It's all the other aspects that look like they should be a bit further ahead.
I think they'll get it done, but I suspect it'll be tight.

I think the seats will be easy as well. I just can't tell if those are seats in the pic.
