From some angles it does look bad in person at the moment, I don't think anyone is disputing that. I'm reserving judgment for a little longer tho, because I think the same thing is happening here that happened with Uptown. Terrible, hideous base that had everyone freaking out (and over roughly the same issue: lousy, blank cladding on the lower levels), but since it stated getting taller everyone's eyes are being drawn upwards and no one seems to mention the base anymore. I think once Trump has another 10 floors poured everyone will be too busy craning their necks skyward to notice what's happening on the bottom 10 floors.

You know what ... you've changed my mind completely with that statement - I, like everyone else, thought uptown was going to be terrible after the first few stories ... and now I absoutly love it - the setbacks, the way it looks on sunny day / everything - the sentiment 'The whole is more than the sum of its parts' really applies in that case - particularly when the parts alone are so crappy.

Also, it looks pretty good in the pic above :)

Not so sure I'm going to completely reveres my standpoint on this one thing, it's already a good 25+ stories up - and while uptown looks white precast looks OK from most angles and in most light - the granite here can really suffer in some conditions

Except for the east side, it looks quite good. Though I think it's only fair to wait few more months before deciding whether it's good or bad. Once the cladding goes up higher, it will be easier to visualize a completed building.

I haven't seen it in person yet but from some of the pictures posted I actually kind of like the mish-mash messiness of the east side of Trump. It's sort of the anti-BA in the same way BSN is sort of the anti-Casa, and I absolutely love BA and Casa.

I agree. Although the "punch windows" look kinda tacky, why does the building have to be completely sterile and perfect. I think as the building gets taller, (its just getting to half way folks) we might find the punch windows to be whatever and not really notice them, and if we do, so what, they aren't really THAT bad. Maybe they will put glass in those areas, I don;t know if that would be an improvement or not, but they may do that, what do the renderings show of this area?

If they don't nothing says a little tacky like TRUMP anyway.

I don't think there's ever been a render from the east side or south side of the tower, except I think there might have been a fly over video.

@ mckarisma.

^hey, sure i agree...

Who's the hot chic in your avatar???

May 6, the green glass is visible from City Hall.

Wow, that model really helps you appreciate how much further up Trump has to go. It's gonna be friggin' tall.

It won't be quite that high though, Ganjavih: that was the 70 floor proposal that was modeled. Now we're only getting, uh, 60-ish floors (=57 through 62, who knows?).

That model of the tower (even though its old) is really nice to see once in a while! But i noticed that we still have quite a bit more granite to go on the east side.. the upper portion of the tower is killer awesome though! (at least in the model) but the current glass is totally different so we'll see how it looks. :D

would have been poetically just for that little spire portion of the roof (where the flat roof starts) to have been taller than FCP or Scotia. Could have been very sweet, triumphant! that silly point could have really made a point.
but alas, we'll have to "wait'n see..." can't judge a book by how it reads.

Pics from May 7. Quality isn't great because it's my cell phone camera, but here you go:
