Mississauga Square One Expansions and Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Oxford Properties | MMC Architecture

Oxford is making 2 applications to the committee of adjustment on March 20 and the map show the changes in the wrong location or total a new pad by MT bus terminal.

One calls for expanding Earl's patio.

The 2nd calls for making changes to Sears both internal and external with a 2nd floor being added. Again wording is the issue as does it mean what there now or a 2nd level on top of the current levels.

If it is to be a new 2nd floor.......................Hummm................................Who do you think will be moving into this area now? Lets the naming games begin.

Was in the Sears store on Sat and what I saw, there was next to nothing there and should had close the store that weekend.

All the asphalt has been removed on the south side for the Phase II expansion as well all concrete, light standards, trees except for the driveway between Hudson and the west entrance.

Hi, I'm a new member, but have been reading the thread for a while. I really enjoy getting a heads up on the changes in my favourite mall.

Forgive me if this has already been covered, but Simons is planning to add a second floor to Sears and as a result the basement level will be leased to someone else. This was reported in the Toronto Star in December. The Simons store in downtown Montreal has a spectacular entrance open to the second floor. I'm looking forward to Simons coming to Ontario and hope they will replicate what they've done in downtown Montreal.

I also read that Lole is coming soon and taking over the Capezio location. Lole is a Canadian company that makes good quality sportswear. They have a store at Bayview Village.

Lastly the south side parking lot construction is making it difficult to get to my favourite parking spot in the Hudson's Bay parkade. The best route is to come from City Centre Drive. Arriving from the Northwest just creates and endless maze of dead ends and turns. I hope that Mississauga fixes the inefficiencies in the roads coming from the Northwest.

March 15:
By the looks of things, underground parking is going into this area or a larger loading bay or a combination of both. The ramp is to it lines up with the current entrance and a lower entrance lining up with the Duke of York entrance.

April 5 with 75 photos up on site.
The Post office gets relocated next weekend and the corridor will be block off to allow reconstruction of it east of Showcase. PO will open next to entrance 6 and then move back to its current spot in September.

Not sure why there is a steel platform in front of the close east entrance other than a safety stagging area. It will be expanded to the west once the area is dug away.

Interesting seeing the underground parking garage exposed, again. It was exposed for a long time when this expansion was halted during the last recession, and then restarted, and they scaled it back from 2 levels to 1 I believe.

I'm sure they found the remains of part of the original expansion that got bury when they kill a good sizes of the expansion after OMERS bought it and let it sit a years before downsizing it.

If the original expansion when ahead as plan, the Mall would be in better shape today than it is now.

The only way this mall will reclaim it spot from the 80's is to rebuild it 100% in 1/4 of it current size and adding more store as well other things to it.

I really do not like the weird entrances that Square One has been doing. I think they look cheap and tacky. The circle on top of the square box thing.

May 20
They have started to add the steel for the 2nd floor on top of the old Sears's and the new Simons that replacing it.

Have no idea where that huge steel frame is going being put together up by the bus terminal. Need a good size crane to walk it to where it going to be place.

Glazing still on going being install as well brick like material on the north side and most likely stucco.

More up on site

So was that section of the underground parking in the last photo sealed off? It looks pristine.

I remember the 'pit' that was left for years in the 90s when they added Cityside (eventually)...neat to see it dug up again.
