Toronto Southcore Financial Centre & Delta Toronto | 159.71m | 45s | GWL | KPMB

I count 17 towers in southcore in that pic but only 8 unique designs. it's the city of twin towers and lazy design.

Even with twins, it's a very impressive view and will only get better with fully glazed Delta and Ice to balance out the green/blue glass.

I love the dark red / purple sidewalk fronting this project !

I understand why that concrete wall fronting the rail tracks is necessary, and for what it is I don't think it's particularly horrid or anything, but I also think it would make a great potential location for some kind of public art installation. There's tens of thousands of people passing it on the trains every day, and whenever the north side of the tracks gets developed there will be all those eyes looking at it, too. It probably wouldn't be kosher because of interference with train sightlines, but even big videoboards could be neat if programmed appropriately

I wonder if in a few years when all the glass buildings in southcore are finished, it might create some sort of magnifying glass effect, like the ray of death in las vegas.

Terrific pics, are we in Toronto anymore? The city I grew up in (since 1968) is buried in tons of glass and steel, still amazes me, I remember the rail yards that stool there, blackened by soot and pollution, the new towers look much nicer, just wish hey had a little more style to them.

It's as if the lookalike quality of Metro Centre did largely get built after all, from Union to Bathurst - only in buildings with mostly blue-grey-green glass facades instead of concrete-precast-brownish ones. Hmmph.

The IIHF world juniors are relatively minor outside canada, they draw small ratings outside of the country.

As for the Olympics, I think a 2024 bid is extremely likely, and has a good chance of winning it. A lot of the Transit tax projects would be finishing up at that point, so it could very well become the next real "due date" for government construction projects. It would probably fund a Sheppard west subway extension as it would probably be focused around a converted Downsview airport site. It is still 11 years away though, so who knows.

San Francisco, Philadelphia, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Paris (which in 2024 will be celebrating the 100th year anniversary of the last Olympics) and Berlin, Doha, Durban, Nairobi, and Rome are all expected to bid for the 2024 Olympic games. since Canada hasn't held the summer games since 1976 we should have a good chance but the Americans generally get what they want - unless Paris becomes a favourite - VERY possible. So I don't think we should hold our breath.
